Tent Digital

Tent Digital drew the crowds, with visitors from the design and technology industries and the passing public engaging with emerging digital design. This was our contribution to the first ever London Digital Week, but many visitors stated that it was also their favourite part of the London Design Festival:

“Tent Digital was cool and inspiring, loved the installations!” “Like a playground for grownups” @spheretrending

“Was v sceptical of TENT Digital, but it's like all the best bits of a science museum in one place” @crystalbennes

These responsive installations made the most impact when experienced live, but if you missed the show you can still view the videos on the Tent Digital YouTube channel.

There will also be another opportunity in 2010. Tent Digital’s debut was extremely well received, and is now set to become an integral part of the event. Digital designers have never had much of a platform at the LDF, so we hope to grow Tent Digital and include more digital disciplines, including web-based work and augmented reality next year’ Jimmy MacDonald, Co-Director, Tent London

Tent Testimonials

We always appreciate receiving feedback on the show and it’s particularly nice to get a little praise!
Here are some of the comments that pleased us this year…

"LDF’s feisty East-End show promised ground-breaking design, and delivered it in style." OnOffice

"It's the biggest and most exciting design happening in the east of the City. Its USP? Innovation and diversity: the event embraces all aspects of design from vintage textiles to digital media." Elle Decoration UK

"I have found Tent to be vital in my development as a designer and as a young person in business. The mix of exhibitors is fantastic with most designers personally showing their work on the stands. It gives me a chance as a creative to rub shoulders with similar people, in a show that has become a real hub of activity during design week. I’ve been able to benefit from its strong links with press and industry and feel privileged to be involved with what is now well respected and perceived as one of the first places to go to spot emerging ideas and talent. It is in the coolest part of London, on the most important week of the year, with the freshest people." Zoe Murphy

"We received invaluable press and trade attention, made lots of new friends and enjoyed a thoroughly inspiring weekend." Hundreds Tens Units

"Tent is simply a fantastic exhibition from start to finish – everyone involved has been great to work with, and made the whole process a real joy. We have been overwhelmed with interest from press and buyers alike and are busy responding to enquiries from around the globe! Thank you, Tent London!" JamesPlumb

Show Review 2009 - our best year yet!

As the autumn sun shone over London, the Truman Brewery became a buzzing and vibrant design destination, as East London’s hub of the London Design Festival - orders were taken, contacts made and many products sold. The roar of applause that went up at the end of the event was the collective response to the end of a very successful week.

Tent London 2009 was a resounding success with 17,625 visitors from as far afield as South America, Australia, and the U.S. flocking to see the some of the most innovative design the London Design Festival had to offer.

View the 2009 visitor figures in more detail.

Now in its third year, the event attracted over 300 emerging and established designers and collectives from 16 countries, including Poland, Portugal, Japan, Korea and Lebanon. The international audience was drawn to Tent London’s eclectic mix of contemporary design across all disciplines.

"It was the best Tent London we’ve had so far. We had a fantastic mix of exhibitors and in a year when it could have gone so wrong (recession-wise), everyone – both exhibitors and visitors – just got on with it and pulled together to make it a huge success."
Rachel Isherwood, Tent London
